I AM Old!!!
Sitting here wrapping up my blog at my PT job selling tickets at the Snowmass resort (I know, I'll be sure to put this position right at the top of my resume) and this kid comes up and says, 'what are you doing?'
me: just updating my blog
him: your what?
me: blog?
him: ugh, that is so old! you gotta get on facebook or something! *laughter*
me: uh, thought that was for college student-aged people and the like?
him: it's better than blogging, that is so lame!
So, if there was any doubt, there isn't any longer. I am official old.
I used to be what they call an 'early adopter,' I had the very first Palm PDA, always had to have the most updated computer and programs, generally jumped on whatever bandwagon was currently passing by. Now, I have a 4 year old phone with no camera or video-messaging capabilities, I'm still using my 2 year old laptop with no upgrades, and I am CLEARLY out of style with my blogging, etc.
This leads me to another revelation of sorts: This is it. This is the time of my life I decide whether I am going to be one of those people who sticks with what is safe, what I know and what I have used and am used to, OR I keep the gears of the new and novel churning away and try to keep up with what seems like a mass exodus of social networks, PDAs, games, networks, equipment, upgrades, phones, laptops, macs or PCs, the latest and greatest everything!...but it makes me tired just thinking about it.
Is this where I ask for an afghan and take a seat in my La-Z-Boy to waste away in obscurity?

Again, when little boys who can barely buy their own beer and still have the smell of mother's milk on their breath become the avatars of cool, shoot me.
